Why wont my samsung upscaling dvd player play higher than 576i on this tv??

an update.... i found the adjustment on the dvd player.... but when i set it to 1080p it says "tv unable to support format" ... any help on why the tv wouldnt support it, when it is a HD tv that plays 1080 hi def tv..

Hi there, welcome to the troublesome world of the NEC televisions....(the other brand which I find very problematic is Conia)....this is one company which has products that have a mind of their own. Under no circumstances do they work without any trouble and what really troubles users are issues like the one outlined above which is unexplainable by simple logic. The most obvious reason which I can think of at this stage which can answer the problem in hand is the fact that there is some kind of product incompatibility which is resulting in the two of them not matching and thus you are stuck with a set which will not work at 1080....my suggestion is that you live with the settings it is working on and look for a better television then next time you are out shopping for one!
