Thermaltake Armor+LCS - Big $ Bold

Category: User experience of Computer Cases
Posted by: 11-Jul
I purchased one of these cases a few weeks ago. When it arrived, I noticed the delivery guy struggling to lift it… the carton was huge and obviously heavy.
Out of the box it is just that…. huge and heavy!
Considering that this case was not designed to be a laptop… the heavy issue was over.
The size of the case, for me, is a bonus. I wanted a case that I could fit out without having to sandwich components into what is a normally confined and hot space.
The Liquid Cooling System is pre-installed only requiring final connection to the motherboard. Everything needed for the LCS is supplied, including the coolant.
I would have preferred to see the tank and radiator mounted in the bottom of the case rather than the top. It could be a problem if it leaks. I guess it has something to do with the rising heat from the radiator?
There are bays a-plenty in the case… 5 - five and a quarter inch - 7 - three and a half inch.
An added bonus is tool draw which fits nicely in one of the unused five and a quarter inch bays.
Two of the hard drive bays are located separately at the bottom of the case. These can be removed and replace with fans if required. (the bottom panel is pre-drilled for fans)
There are 3 factory fitted fans in the case; the most obvious is the 230mm on the side panel. There is a speed adjustable 120mm fan on the LCS radiator, a 120mm at the rear of the case and a 140mm fan on the front , directly in line with the hard drive bays.
The side panel has a clear Perspex window with the obligatory blue LED lights on the fan.
The hard drive bays can be removed as one unit or you can fit your drives in individually.
Fitting drives into this case is quick and screwless.
Thermaltake have allowed for cable management in the cases design along with the option of allowing the motherboard tray to be pulled out to enable easy fitment of your motherboard etc.
A minor niggle (for me) is having the front on/off button, USB and Audio panel on top of the case… it would be far better located midway on the front.
Everything about this case is quality.. sure it’s big and heavy.. but these minor issues are soon forgotten as you mod out this case.

It's Big, Bold and Brilliant - one of the best I've seen and certainly the easiest and most accessable cases I have modded to date

Pros: Quality of workmanship - attention to detail
Cons: Power/Reset button / USB placement (and to a lesser degree) - weight
Nice one Thermaltake!
